Bastiaantje Speelpenning gets her own web page, not because we have
pictures of her, but because we have photocopies of records from the city of Delft where
she married Bruijn Bruijnsz van der Klaauw in 1785, and had a child with him in 1786.
In some of these records, she goes by the name of Schrijfpen (translated: writing
pen) instead of the usual spelling variants on Speelpenning. Because the name of
Schrijfpen appears on different occasions, it can't quite be explained away as a simple
error by a clerk.

Bastiaantje, who was born and baptized in Heenvliet in 1759, apparently was living in
Delft in 1785, when she married there with Bruijn Bruijnsz van der Klaauw from Hof van
Delft. Bruijn Bruijnsz van der Klaauw was the widower of Trijntje Boon, with whom
he'd had a son Meijnderd, baptized on 24-05-1778. Bastiaantje's son Cornelis van der
Klaauw was born in 17-09-1786 in Hof van Delft. Bruijn Bruijnsz van der Klaauw
apparently died soon after, since on 23-04-1790 Bastiaantje is back in Heenvliet and
marries Andries van de Wereld there. So possibly she's there with both Meijnderd,
who would have been 12, and Cornelis who would have been 4. Apparently she has
another child with Andries van de Wereld. Then on 27-11-1799 she marries again, in
Heenvliet, with Jacob Gorseman. Jacob Gorseman was baptized in Oostvoorne on
17-05-1761 and is possibly the same person Peter Klok has in his database as Jakob Leendertse Gorseman.
Jakob Leendertse Gorseman was also baptized in Oostvoorne on 17-05-1761 but identification
is not obvious since he was married to Annetje Pieterse Rietdijk, who is listed as living
till 1827, outliving him.
Bastiaantje's son Cornelis may be the same person Peter Klok has in his database as
Cornelis Klaauw, who's
listed as having been born in Hof van Delft, and as having married with Maartje Rietdijk,
having children in Rockanje in 1808 and 1811. They are both daughters: Bastiaantje,
born 17-12-1808 and Suzanna, born 13-06-1811. If Cornelis van der Klaauw and
Cornelis Klaauw are indeed the same person, the naming of the daughters would follow
convention, Bastiaantje being the name of his mother, Suzanna being the name of Maartje's
mother (Susanna Aertse Korevaar).
