Charles Gordon Matthews, born Nov 6, 1915 in Los Angeles. He was a professor of
Mathematics at California State University at Dominguez Hills until he retired. He
died on Apr 11, 1994, leaving a large library of books. In his later life, he spent
a large part of the day in a den built behind the main house, in which he had all his
books, and where he would read and study. His daughter Barbara made an inventory of
all the books - it is quite a collection, ranging from classics to mathematics, to
philosophy, philosophy of science, and theology. Also lots of history and
literature.
